I am a goal oriented person. I like my lists, especially when I see a lot of check marks next to the tasks. Each item completed is a win. I have made no secret that I am in a race against the calendar to finish one of my WIP, “Rub-A-Dub Bath Time”, by August 31st…Will I make it? This is the current picture from today, Friday, August 21st. Just ten days to go! I'm thinking I might actually make it!!!
I chose the “Rub-A-Dub Bath Time” cross stitch kit because it complements a project I worked on when I cared for my mom during her last days. “Penguins Fishing” was first and used 18-count Aida cloth. I had difficulty stitching it. I was not much over forty, and you know what happens on that magical birthday, I couldn’t see things close up that well. (I soon got reading glasses.) Every time I was working on it as I sat beside her bed, Mom would ask me if I was sewing dirt. I’d tell her, “Yep, I’m making more dirt.” Where I started this project on the canvas was not definitive and looked that way—I have since started outlining as I go. So “Penguins Fishing” always brings a smile to my face when I see the finished product hanging on my wall.
Even though “Penguins Fishing” is Christmas themed, it stays up in my front entrance year round. At this time, as best as I can tell, this is a 3-piece collection—“Penguins Fishing,” “Rub-A-Dub Bath Time,” and “Stack of Penguins.” I can’t find “Stack of Penguins” as a kit but it is available on Pinterest with pictures. Obviously, I’m on the lookout. It will go in my stash. And, once it is complete, it will probably be displayed year around as well.
And, now the BloomingDaisiesCrafts news! Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas product is in the works and will be added soon! I have selected some cute holiday fabrics and my work room is overrun with material. I think you are going to love the coordinating colors and patterns that are coming your way! Part of the beauty of crafting is that we don’t have to wait for the actual day to enjoy a holiday! And, as an added bonus, I have adjusted my part time job hours to Monday-Thursday. I will be dedicating Friday’s to BloomingDaisiesCrafts’ new product.
Changes on the BloomingDaisiesCrafts website include the categorization of NeedleMinders and the ability to save product to a “favorites” list. NeedleMinders are divided into ten (10) categories and some are cross-posted. Make sure to save your favorites-the other new feature!-just login and “save”.
And, file this under an FYI: last week I learned from another experienced seamstress about “thread peels” to hold extra fabric rather than hair clips. Go ahead and Google them, if you haven’t already. I haven’t ordered any yet but think they are pretty cool.
I hope the dog days of summer are going well for you. Stay safe, stay healthy, and like us on FB or IG to see the latest product!
