We're Back - Sort of!

I am back! Well, sort of…Moving from Florida to Georgia

My husband and I drove into Georgia a little over a week ago and our possessions showed up a few days later. The decision to move back to Georgia was tough but we wanted to be closer to our kids and their kids. We have already had a visit from our oldest son and his family when they came to help us unload our U-Haul trailer. The amount of help that they lent us was unbelievable and much appreciated. This weekend our youngest daughter and her family are coming to visit. She is bringing my amazing “organization guru” granddaughter—so I have high hopes there for her assistance! Those of you that have been reading the Blooming Daisies Crafts blog may remember her previous summer visit where she organized all of my fabric or the trip that she arranged all of the Needle Minders. Neither of these endeavors were menial tasks. Being close to family was the first but not the only reason.

We also experienced some hurricane wariness from Hurricane Ian. As the storm hit the day after my ankle surgery, nearly two years ago, my husband and I rode the storm out in a room in our Florida home with our two dogs, Bella and Rosy. The noise and pressure from 15 hours of sustained high winds was a little too much. Our girls were brave enough to go out in the weather to use the restroom. But I think all of us were happy to get out of the room for even a short break.

Speaking of the girls, I am truly sad to post that Rosy, our sweet German Shepherd rescue, did not make the move with us. For the first time since I was 19, I am living in a pet free home. My husband and I are still devastated. Rosy was diagnosed with cancer six months to the day that we lost Bella. Rosy had made the transition to only dog pretty swiftly with strong encouragement from her loving doggy dad.  But once we found a lump on her mammory and the vet confirmed our scary thoughts, we continued give Rosy her best life possible. We pray that Rosy does not rest in peace but instead is running and playing with all of the furry siblings of our past. I can only imagine her reunion with Bella. It is a beautiful thing.

Slow progress is being made to set up Blooming Daisies in the new space but my machines are I place and ready to “rock and roll”. No, I have not tried them yet but the time is coming. I put all of my websites on “vacation hold” which did not stop the orders. Hooray! The shipping date for those orders is, I believe, Friday, September 20. I will be working overtime to get everything in place including the “Handling” part of my business. Blooming Daisies Crafts prides itself on paying attention to the little things. The details are important to this small business owner!

I swear that this is my last move. My husband is on board with this idea. Remember those details? Between changing addresses on all things great and small (driver licenses, vehicle registrations, etc.), shutting down and setting up utilities, and several other hundred minutiae, it might drive us crazy. We know we are forgetting something, somewhere, but figure it will show up eventually. Hopefully, this one lost item will not be too important.

Unfortunately, Blooming Daisies Crafts does not have new product to post. The to-do list is long but some of the boxes can be crossed off!

  • Set up office-including desk assembly - Done!

  • Arrange sewing work station(s) - Done!

  • Warehouse preparation-fabric shelving units, Needle Minder station, cutting table area, mailing zone, etc. - A WIP!
