Happy Mother’s Day Weekend

Can you believe we are in May already? Mother’s Day weekend too?! How do you celebrate Mother’s Day? My husband and I will call my MIL for Mother’s Day and then I hope to hear from our kids. With five kids, that makes for a busy but enjoyable day!

At this time, husband and I are trying to align our calendars with our daughters’ calendars to arrange this summer’s grandchildren visits. My husband and I prefer to have “one on one” time with our older grandkids so we work to schedule their weeklong vacations individually.

  • Grandchild 1 is now 15 and I was pleasantly surprised that she still wants to come. She has school, a part time job and also participates in roller derby but she is probably the most excited of the four. Of course, it may have to do with our little Craig Cat. Last year, I let her steer it and she loved it. My husband told her if she takes the Florida Boating Safety course (and passes), he would let her drive the boat!

  • Grandchild 2 is more of a restaurant kid. He has a list of places he likes to eat at when he visits us! Thankfully his diet is not limited to the normal teenage boy favorites and the list includes some places that my husband and I like dining at already.

  • Number 3 is looking forward to swimming all the time. She will probably enjoy the pool remodel most. And I am sure Rosy and Bella will be worn out at the end of each day as they take their roles of Life Guards very seriously. I do have to say that with #3 having beautiful red hair and a light complexion—just like her mom and sister--I see gallons of sunscreen in my immediate future.

  • Our fourth grandchild wants to help me with Blooming Daisies Crafts! She organized my Needle Minders last time and was such a big help. I am looking at different projects that are helpful and age appropriate. I will enjoy having someone with youth, dexterity, and the willingness to work hanging around the office/workspace!

You can see how they are all different and having them here individually enables us to make their visits unique and so much more enjoyable. And, actually, my husband and I get to learn more about each child. It is a win/win arrangement.

Last week I fished another baby possum out of the canal. When I took it to the vet that would transfer it to the wildlife hospital, the vet tech reminded me that this is breeding season so we will probably see a lot more of abandoned juveniles…I think they are great but Bella and Rosy, my dogs, like to bring them in the house and sometimes are not so gentle. I read on the internet (so it must be true) that possums do not like garlic so I did put a new supply of cloves around the perimeter of our fenced yard. Hopefully, the possums read the article and know that they do not like garlic and will avoid that area.

Blooming Daisies Crafts’ Special Order Department (aka me) worked heavily on Special Orders last week. One customer requested washable Dust Covers. The normal fabric used for Dust Covers is sturdier and, per the manufacturer’s recommendation, not machine washable. In this instance, I used the same lightweight cotton fabric used for Blooming Daisies Crafts Grime Guards on both sides of the interfacing. Because she is so excited to try them out, the customer volunteered use them and to let me know how they wash. Two prototypes were produced: the Glow in the Dark Cat and Mouse fabric with yellow dotted lining and the Beach Flamingo Summertime with bright pink lining! She is using smaller scroll rods but Dust Covers can be made for wider ones, as well. Remember, if you want something made, let me know. We can figure it out to make it a reality. Just click the “Let’s Chat” button on the bottom of my website!

Speaking of Special Orders, if you missed last week’s, check it out on its featured Blooming Daisies Crafts FB post. The fabric quantity is limited so, at this time, it will not be listed on the website. As a blog reader, you know about this super-secret stash. Custom orders are welcome! If you are interested, I can make you something out of this material (or any other pictured on the Blooming Daisies Crafts website)! But be forewarned, this print is super cute, I only have so much, and I feel it will not last long! Another special order went out today for this fabric as an 11x17 Q-Snap Project Bag - pictures next week.

Upon completion of the Glow in the Dark Cat and Mouse Dust Cover, it was discovered that no merchandise has been posted on the Blooming Daisies Crafts website in this fabric. However, the new Hoop Bag product line needs some bolstering first. Then the Glow in the Dark Cat and Mouse patterned Grime Guards, Q-snap bags, and WIP bags will be next. You know me – “it’s on my list!”

The Blooming Daisies Crafts Buyers have also been shopping for some new Needle Minder tops. No, I do not make these myself. The expense to produce a wide variety would make listing them at the Blooming Daisies Crafts price impossible. I leave that up to the experts and produce my soft goods to sell at a reasonable price. I do admit to falling down a rabbit hole every time I start shopping for Needle Minders. At this time, the “need to purchase” list includes Snoopy, Woodstock, cowboy boots, and whatever else grabs my sister or my attention. If you have suggestions, send them my way!

This week’s featured product is our patriotic merchandise! The calendar is quickly turning to the heavy summer holiday schedule with Memorial Day, Flag Day, and Fourth of July. Get your red, white, and blue on to kick off summer!

Americana - Patriotic Dust Cover - the liner might have to be changed because again, the lining fabric is getting low. :)
