Inspiration!

Sometimes we all need a little inspiration. Last week I was inspired and was darn productive! Early in the week I sewed and the Grime Guards and Q-Snap Bags in the new Gnome-Grey Background print. They are already posted on the Blooming Daisies Crafts website. BOOM! The simple color palette of red, gray and black is a customer favorite and surprisingly neutral. The Q-Snap Travel Bags are paired with the complementing black/red Buffalo checked with the delicate snowflakes. Take a look at either (or both) product and you can decide if the print leans towards Christmas, winter, or everyday. While I still have to do the WIP bags, at Blooming Daisies Crafts, we celebrate every victory.

It has been just over a year since my husband and I made the move to this house. We have made major changes to make it our home. Now it is time to get down to the not so easy, more DIY projects, which I have a love/hate relationship. This past week, after much consideration, I chose to modernize a yucky closet into a beautiful, useful storage closet. Talk about a huge change! The top left picture is the finished project and the bottom right is the start of the project with pictures of the “WIP” in between. It was a big undertaking but I broke it down into a bunch of little steps which made it much easier. I did, however, forget to list “wait for the paint to dry” multiple times. Those missing line items were the most challenging. The finished product was well worth the effort and has unbelievable added value. It has inspired me to think big. Now onto the master closet!

Probably the biggest news this week is that, as I am writing this blog, my husband and my 7th grandchild was born! We cannot wait to meet him and, yes, it is a healthy boy! I will not share any other information because I feel that the decision to do so is up to his parents. However, all reports point to a laid back personality. When my sister visited, we went over the baby quilt plans. I had chosen a pattern quite a while ago but his birth inspired me to get the project started. My sister and I spent some time pouring over applique files. We experimented with some and found the perfect six dinosaurs. Now, I just need to make the quilt that is in my mind into a reality. I hope the parents love it and that Number 7 grows to cherish it. It already holds great memories for me. I will keep you posted on its progress.

Fortunately, my rib is finally mostly healed. That is probably obvious since I was able to get so much accomplished without needing to sit to rest my rib or back. I say “mostly” because there is still a little discomfort but I am done with sitting around.

Recently a Blooming Daisies Crafts customer let me know that she just started an enormous Disney Stained Glass project. Maybe you have seen different variations on cross stitch posting sites. I see them and am in awe. This customer is estimating the task will take her between 1 to 2 years. You might be thinking she is a veteran cross stitcher – NOPE! She started this hobby at the beginning of the year!!! Wow - good for her. I cannot imagine doing a project that large. I think my WIP are large enough. But she is inspiring me to get some more done on my projects.

Speaking of projects, do you set goals? And, if you do, how do you measure them? Perhaps you draw a circle around what you want to get done for a day or week? Or do you try to do a page in a week? Being real on my blog, I have to confess, I sometimes just want to get a square on a page done in a week. Lately, I have not even done that. As I said, I really need to get busy. It will happen. I have to keep the Dory refrain in my head – “just keep sewing, just keep sewing…” I think for this I might need one or both Blooming Daisies Crafts Dory Needle Minders on my current project for inspiration. Do you see that side track there?! Yep, that’s me.
